A game release calendar for streamers is a list of upcoming games with the date, the hype, the price and the live Twitch crowd on the same row. You use it the evening before you go live, so you can pick a category that people are about to search for — and that is not already full of bigger channels.
We shipped ours on 3 October 2026. It is on the site, updated through the day: open the game release calendar. The rest of this piece is how we read it, with a real snapshot from that first day.
Why we built it#
On our own channels the miss always looks the same. A game lands, the directory fills by lunch, and we hear about it from a clip the next morning. Release roundups on the web are written for players. They tell you the day. They do not tell you whether twelve people or twelve thousand are already watching someone else play it.
The calendar comes from that hands-on experience that shaped Stream Shake. We stream, we watch category shifts, and we kept a private list of dates that went stale the moment a studio moved a launch. Putting IGDB dates, Steam prices and the live Twitch directory in one place was the fix we actually wanted on the desk.
Where a number comes from
Dates, covers and the “waiting” count come from IGDB, the game database Twitch owns. Prices come from Steam, so a console-only release often has no price. “Streaming now” is the live Twitch directory: channels on air, and people watching them. If a cell is empty, we leave it empty. We do not invent a score to fill the gap.
What one row is telling you#
You do not need every column on the first pass. Date, waiting, price and the live crowd are enough to decide whether the category is worth a title card.
- Waiting
- How many people on IGDB said they are waiting for the game. A bigger number means more people are already interested. It is not a promise they will open Twitch.
- Critics and players
- Two scores out of 100. Reviewers and players often disagree, so we keep them apart. A dash means nobody has scored it yet — normal for a game that is still days away.
- Price
- The Steam price right now, with the old price crossed out when it is on sale. Console releases are not in Steam, so the cell stays blank on purpose.
- Steam rank
- Place on the most-wishlisted list. #1 is the game people want most. A blank rank means it is not on that list, not that nobody cares.
- Streaming now
- Channels live with this game at this minute, and how many people are watching them. This is the column that tells you if you are early or late.
- Your chance
- Our short read of the row. Green means people want the game and almost nobody is streaming it. “Crowded” means the directory is already busy. “Okay” sits in between. If we do not have enough to judge, we say so.
A snapshot from 3 October 2026#
These three rows were on the calendar that afternoon. They are not a ranking we will defend next month. They show how the same columns separate three very different nights.
| Game | Out | Waiting | Steam | Live on Twitch | Read |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aion 2 | 5 Oct | 17 | #48 | 99+ channels, 49.5K watching | Crowded |
| Gears of War: E-Day | 6 Oct | 112 | #35 | 100+ channels, 2.8K watching | Okay |
| Kingdom Hearts III | 8 Oct | 110 | — | 9 channels, 22 watching | Okay |
Aion 2 already had a packed directory: on the order of a hundred channels and about 49,500 people watching, with a middling wishlist rank. That is a hard room if your channel is still small. Gears of War: E-Day had more people waiting (112) and a stronger Steam rank (#35), at $69.99, with a busy directory but far fewer viewers than Aion. Kingdom Hearts III, the 8 October port on PS5, Switch 2 and Xbox Series, showed 110 waiting, a 90 from critics and a 75 from players, and only nine channels with 22 viewers. Same “Okay” label as Gears. Completely different night.
Do not schedule off this table
Studios move dates, sales end, and the Twitch directory turns over in an hour. Treat the rows above as a photograph from 3 October 2026. Before you go live, look at the calendar again.
The current rows, including games that were not notable enough to show by default, are here: game release calendar. “Only notable releases” is on when you first open it. Turn it off if you want every small launch in the window, not just the ones with a pulse.
How we pick a game the night before#
- Shrink the window: Set the calendar to the next 7 days if you stream this week. Ninety days is for planning a month, not for tomorrow’s title.
- Sort by waiting, then look at live channels: High hype with a quiet directory is the opening. High hype with tens of thousands of viewers is a parade you will not lead.
- Check the price and the platform: A deep Steam sale can pull searchers who were waiting. A console-only date will not have a Steam price — that blank is honest, not a bug.
- Watch the trailer, then open the category: The row has a trailer button and a link into the Twitch directory for that game. If the directory is already a wall of partners, pick the next row down.
- Save the date: Anyone can download the releases into a calendar file. If you want an email before the day, and another if the studio moves it, star the game. Premium keeps five of those.
“The first day of a release is when people search. It is also when the category is still thin. Miss that day and you are narrating someone else’s VOD.”
Free to browse, email if you want the nudge#
The calendar does not sit behind a subscription. Search, filters, the month view and the download are there for every visitor. Premium is the reminder: star up to five upcoming games, choose how many days ahead you want the mail, and we also write if the date moves. We built that because knowing a date in October does not mean you remember it on the morning it matters.
If you only do one thing after this, open the table and sort the next week by who is waiting: Stream Shake release calendar.
Questions we get#
Stream Shake — lawful growth & channel promotion
Stream Shake is a mutual viewing marketplace: real streamers watch real channels to earn points, then spend points to receive live viewers. The platform is built for ToS-safe promotion and cold-start momentum — not viewbots or purchased fake viewers.
Channels averaging 1,000+ concurrent viewers on live streams can get tailored partnership terms — sponsorship packaging, leaderboard visibility, and co-marketing. Use our contact page to discuss collaboration.
Stream Shake does not sell or endorse viewbots; unlawful viewer inflation violates Twitch ToS and sponsor trust.

Streaming glossary
- Retention
- How long new clicks stay on the stream. You can buy attention with a good title, but you earn watch time with a watchable stream.
- Twitch Affiliate
- The first Twitch monetisation milestone — still driven by real viewers and stream consistency, not bought metrics.
- Raid
- When a stream ends, sending viewers to another live channel — a legitimate way to bootstrap discovery without fake viewers.
- Cold start
- The empty-room phase before you have habitual chatters — where packaging (titles/clips) and real concurrent viewers matter most.
Is the game release calendar free?
Yes. Browsing, filters and the calendar download are free. Email reminders for up to five starred games are part of Premium.
How fresh are the Twitch numbers?
The directory count is live when the page is built. Prices and hype refresh through the day. A screenshot from last week is already a different category.
Why is the price missing?
Price comes from Steam. A game that is only on PlayStation, Xbox or Switch often has no Steam page yet, so we leave the cell blank.
What if IGDB only knows the month?
We show the precision we were given — a day, a month, a quarter, a year, or no date. We do not turn “sometime in 2026” into a fake Tuesday.
Will this guarantee viewers?
No. An empty category still needs a title people click and a stream that holds them. The calendar only tells you whether you are early.
